About the event
Gifted vocalist Dr. Mwanza Furaha brings to life the legendary African American singers she’s worked with by performing the songs they sang and wrote and sharing her personal memories of each artist. The Legends include: Lena Calhoun Horne, Carmen Mercedes McRae, Nancy Sue Wilson, Nina Simone and Abbey Lincoln. Dr. Mwanza Furaha is currently a vocalist with 19 Broadway Good Time Band, PB&Jam and lead vocalist with her band Chocolate Medicine. Her extensive vocal repertoire includes jazz, standards, show tunes, rock & roll, rhythm & blues, funk, blues, pop, folk, classical, country and gospel. Tickets $20 advance. $25 at the door
